Totesport are one of the oldest and most iconic names in the gambling industry. Back in the day, they revolutionised the way that people could gamble, allowing punters to bet into a pool rather than bet against a bookmaker, before winnings were then divided up between the winning bets. Without going into too much detail, it was very similar to the way the National Lottery now runs today.
The brand have been able to expand further than that with the ability to offer both tote bets and a more traditional form of bookmaking by way of a sportsbook. This area has been developed further following the takeover from Betfred. What’s been great to see is that whilst Totesport has definitely evolved over the last decade or so, their roots have remained, which will please long term customers.

New accounts to Totesport will be able to grab a £25 free bet. The free bet will be credited to your account if your first bet loses, with a 100% match on that loss up to £25.
The Totesport Website
The green and black layout of the site is now one that is synonymous with the brand and those of you already familiar with will instantly be able to tell who it belongs to. We have to admit that the colour scheme on offer is one of the best that we have seen and whilst The Tote might not be as popular as it once was, it still looks as good as you will find.
The homepage will highlight some of the upcoming betting markets, but what’s nice is that you are able to choose the sport you want to see an overview of. For example, currently you can flick between football, basketball, cricket and baseball, but these will change depending on what’s happening at that time of year.
The mobile betting site has been drastically improved to bring it up to date with what’s developing in the industry. The old version was borderline unusable, but this version seems to be much more stable and the design is just streets ahead of what it was. In fact, the mobile version of the bookmaker is probably our favourite method versus the online version, which we think speaks volumes. All mobile devices will be able to access the app, simply by visiting the Totesport site in your smartphone or tablet browser.
It’s tough to really criticise the coverage on offer as it’s pretty good. The one thing that we will say is that they rely heavily on horse racing and football. Whilst we wouldn’t go as far as saying that if you bet on other sports we wouldn’t use them, outside of these two the market coverage really does tend to suffer.
The horse racing section has to be the highlight of for us. The coverage is second to none, and whilst they are great at covering races from the UK and Ireland, the international racing has to be commended also, with meetings from the likes of Australia, USA, South Africa, France and many more.
Don’t forget that the site also includes Totepool bets, which were at one point the bread and butter of Totesport. There are very few bookmakers that offer these types of markets anymore, so to be able access so many is massive boost for them. Bet types include Placepot, Jackpot, Quadpot, Exacta, Trifecta, Win/Place and Scoop6.
The pricing structure is pretty solid for the most part. From the markets that we tested there was little to really complain about. They certainly weren’t the best, but they were never terrible in any of our tests. We realise that this maybe isn’t the best description, but if you wanted to call them ‘steady’ then it wouldn’t be too far away.
Live Betting & Streaming
The live betting section has seen quite the makeover in recent years. This is a section of the site that we think is their most improved, although the design still leave a little to be desired in our opinion.
The market coverage for the live bets is actually very good. Football matches will easily see around 80 live betting markets and for others sports you can pretty much quarter this number and you won’t be far away.
The highlight is when you finally get into the game that you are looking to bet on. The match centre live is one of the best around and it includes detailed information and stats regarding the fixture and also includes a live pitch highlighting the areas of play throughout.
At Totesport there are a number of banking options that include Visa, MasterCard, PayPal and Neteller. Deposit start from as little as £5 and incur no fees with transactions being processed immediately. Withdrawals will also start from £5, again with no fees with processing times ranging from just 24 hours for e-wallets up to 5 days for other transactions.
