Unibet Review

Unibet are a well known betting brand. Interestingly, the majority of their custom comes from Scandinavia, and whilst they still have a strong following across the rest of Europe, it’s probably fair to say that they aren’t competitive in this marketplace at the moment.

Whilst not a strength as such, Unibet have very few weaknesses. They are able to offer up everything you would need from a bookmaker in terms of betting markets, features, pricing and promotions. The site also comes with a stunning design, which can be as big a selling point as any these days.

As soon as you land on the site the first thing that really strikes you is just how good it looks. The layout isn’t actually exclusive to Unibet, with several other brands, such as Ladbrokes, having a similar sort of layout. This isn’t a negative though and it’s something that have been very successful for both firms previously.

The green and white colour scheme is one of the best in the business. It looks fresh and modern, with the site just generally feeling uncluttered. We are certain that the lack of ‘in your face’ promotions that a lot of bookmakers choose to use is a major part of this, so kudos to Unibet for omitting them from the final design.

The betting app follows a similar theme and again there is an awful lot to like. What we found is that when betting on your phone it often worked just as well as the online version, which is important in this day and age. It hasn’t always been that way for them however, so it’s good to see that they are moving with the times and are now able to provide a stunning looking online and mobile sportsbook.

Betting Markets

A bookmaker is often defined by the depth of markets that are on offer and Unibet has no shortage in that department. You are getting a ton of sports to choose from on site and even though some of them take a little bit of digging within their new tiered menu system. Once you know where you are heading you wont be left disappointed.

Football plays a massive role here, as it does for the majority of bookies. The site covers a huge number of leagues and competitions from around the globe and rarely is there a time where there aren’t any games to bet within the next hour or so, such is the coverage.

Outside of football, the likes of horse racing, tennis, cricket, golf and a range of American based sports are all covered fantastically. The difference between these and football (less so horse racing) is that these sports really come alive around popular tournaments or major championships. The smaller games tend to be forgotten a little and whilst they are on site, the number of markets is noticeably less than the higher profile matches. Whilst this does happen with football, you’ll find that even games in League 2 from England will still have well in excess of 100 markets to bet on, which is massive considering the following that the game is going to be getting around the world.

The pricing structure on site is one that’s come on leaps and bounds in recent years. Unibet have never been terrible but to really get to the next stage and challenge the likes of BetVictor, they definitely needed to up their game. That’s exactly what they have done and we were surprised when cross testing certain bets with other bookmakers to see just how competitive they were. As an additional note we actually found that for tennis betting they were one of the best priced operators that we had come across.

Live Betting & Streaming

The live betting section is pretty simple to use, which is a good thing. You can flick quickly between the sports you want to bet on and simply scroll down to the particular game you want to bet on. The downside is that in busy periods such as weekends for football, the number of games can be huge and the list becomes a little bit daunting, especially if you are new to live betting. We would have liked to be able to include a ‘favourites’ tab to move certain markets to the top as included on other sites, but alas not as yet.

When you actually enter into the games the site really does come alive. We loved the inclusion of the match centre showing live information on what’s happening in a game down to where the ball is on the pitch at any second. With this you are able to get a number of statistics on these games if you are late to it. There’s also a pre-match statistics section, including form and head to head data.

You’re going to be able to access a solid range of banking options at Unibet, which includes MasterCard, Visa, Neteller, Skrill and a host of others. Deposits start from as little as £5 and incur no fees. Withdrawals will take up to 12 hours for e-wallet payments to be processed, up to 2-5 working days for pretty much all other methods. Again, you wont have any fees to pay on your withdrawals.
